When we created Bernie’s Perfect Poop, we used our own Bernie as our Official Taste Tester! But we recognize not all dogs have the same tastes, and we know there are lots of different ways you can serve Perfect Poop to your dog to help them have the healthiest gut on the block. Whether you’re sprinkling straight on food or creating delicious doggy smoothies, you can be sure that your dog will get all the benefits from the best fiber, prebiotics, probiotics and digestive enzymes for dogs!
We often get asked about how to serve Perfect Poop for those pickier dogs to eat, and through the years, we’ve found (often with your help!) many ways to do so. Here are some of our favorites:
1. Mix with Yogurt:
A lot of pet parents create a gut-health-boosting snack by stirring Bernie’s Perfect Poop into a bowl of plain, unsweetened yogurt. This not only adds probiotics to your dog’s diet but also makes for a creamy and delicious treat for them too. An additional treat can be to mix it in with the yogurt and then freeze it in dog-safe cups to give them as frozen treats. Delicious and great for their gut at the same time.
2. Blend with Bone Broth:
Bone broth is a tasty and nutrient-rich liquid that most dogs love. You can mix Bernie’s Perfect Poop into the broth for an added health kick. You can serve it as a warm treat or freeze it in an ice cube tray for a refreshing summer snack. It’s easy to make, and there are also several on the market you can buy that are already made.
3. Stir into Wet Food:
Probably the easiest way to make sure your dog gets their daily dose of Perfect Poop is by mixing it directly into their food with wet food. It blends seamlessly and enhances the flavor of their regular meal. Very rarely will a dog not eat wet food because of its different texture and palatability.
4. Sprinkle over Dry Food:
If your dog is a kibble fan, simply sprinkle the powder over their dry food. Some pet parents like to add a bit of water (or broth) to make a gravy-like consistency that coats the kibble with digestive goodness.
- Create a Smoothie:
Blend a small amount of Bernie’s Perfect Poop with dog-safe fruits like blueberries and a bit of kefir or plain yogurt to make a probiotic smoothie. You can let them drink straight from a bowl or cup, or use it as a topper for their regular meals.
- Stuffed Toys or puzzle feeders:
If your dog enjoys interactive toys, mix Bernie’s Perfect Poop with a soft treat or peanut butter and stuff it into a toy or even use it with a puzzle feeder. They’ll get a surprise that’s both fun and beneficial for their digestion.
Homemade Treat Recipes with Bernie’s Perfect Poop
Through the years, we’ve come up with and other pet parents have shared some incredible recipes that they give and include Bernie’s Perfect Poop. Here are some of our favorites.
Peanut Butter & Pumpkin Digestive Treats:
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of Bernie’s Perfect Poop
- 1/2 cup of pumpkin puree (make sure it’s pure pumpkin, not pie filling)
- 1/4 cup of peanut butter (BE SURE it’s XYLITOL-FREE)
- 2 cups of whole wheat flour (or a substitute if your dog is sensitive to wheat)
- 1 egg
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and egg in a large bowl.
- Gradually mix in the flour and Bernie’s Perfect Poop until the dough is no longer sticky.
- Roll the dough out on a floured surface and cut it into fun shapes with cookie cutters.
- Place the treats on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Let them cool completely before serving.
Freezer-Friendly Digestive Delights:
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of Bernie’s Perfect Poop
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 cup of plain yogurt
Instructions:
- Mash the banana in a mixing bowl.
- Stir in the yogurt and Bernie’s Perfect Poop until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray or silicone mold.
- Freeze until solid.
- Pop out a cube and offer it to your dog as a cool treat on a hot day.
Digestive Health Doggy Meatballs:
Ingredients:
- Bernie’s Perfect Poop
- Ground turkey or lean beef
- Chopped parsley (helps with fresh breath)
- Cooked quinoa or oatmeal for binding
Instructions:
- Mix the ground meat with the Perfect Poop supplement, parsley, and cooked quinoa or oatmeal until well combined.
- Form into small, bite-sized meatballs.
- Cook in a pan or bake in the oven until the meat is fully cooked.
- Let them cool before serving.
Veggie & Perfect Poop Pops:
Ingredients:
- Bernie’s Perfect Poop
- Pureed pumpkin or sweet potato
- Diced veggies like carrots or green beans
- Low-sodium broth (to bind everything)
Instructions:
- Mix the pureed veggies with the Perfect Poop supplement.
- Add the diced veggies and enough broth to bind the mixture without making it too runny.
- Pour into ice pop molds and freeze until solid.
- Serve as a refreshing treat on a hot day.
